Easy RDP Client Setup (Not Optional)

You should use a Microsoft RDP client on a Windows PC. If using a different RDP client and/or different OS client, you must investigate which software to use to establish a similar RDP configuration as to what we can (and must) do for the Microsoft RDP Client to get good performance against Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions such as the Technology Leadership, LLC AWS hosted Mint and Jupyter (X Windows) Desktops.

Spoiler alert, the ONLY option that will work for MS RDP Client: WAN (10 Mbs or higher with high latency)

Using Microsoft’s RDP Client, select ‘Show Options”

The screen will change, look for the ‘Experience’ tab and click on it

Under Performance, see just below ‘Choose your connection speed to optimize performance’

Click on the down arrow (in the smaller red circle) to the right of whatever the default speed, select:
WAN (10 Mbs or higher with high latency)

CLICK CONNECT NOW AND YOU WILL HAVE THE CORRECT PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE.

NOTE: THIS IS THE ONLY PERMORMANCE OPTION THAT WILL WORK FOR CLOUD BASED VDI
